The EUSP Summer School project is an intensive, two-week program designed for international students seeking a deep, multidisciplinary understanding of Russia’s pivotal role in the Eurasian space. The School combines rigorous academic coursework with profound cultural immersion in the historic city of St. Petersburg, challenging participants to connect theory with reality and expand their worldview.
Within an interdisciplinary framework, leading scholars explore the multifaceted nature of Eurasia. Key topics include the formation and historical transformations of the Russian state, the political legacies of the region, the complex dynamics of its borderlands, a brief history of Arctic Russia, and an interdisciplinary perspective on current Eurasian tensions.
Curriculum
10 lectures
A wide range of subjects delivered by leading EUSP faculty and distinguished guest scholars
10 Russian language classes
An intensive language track tailored to three proficiency levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
10 seminars
Facilitated discussions based on lecture topics and core readings
5 student workshops
Sessions where participants divided into groups to collaboratively design and pitch a research project for a mock grant competition, developing essential skills in project development, teamwork, and persuasive communication
1 round-table
A moderated debate on a pressing contemporary issue in Eurasian affairs, involving experts and students
Cultural immersion
The program brings academic themes to life through expert-led architectural tours, world-class museum visits, scenic canal cruises, and immersive day trip to Veliky Novgorod
Fee
150,000 rubles for students of partner universities
200,000 rubles for students of other universities
Admission fee includes:
tuition;
visa support (official invitation letter);
accommodation in the city center;
access to leading scholars for personal consultation;
three dinners and social events;
official certificate of completion of the program.

About EUSP
Founded in 1994 with the active support of the city of St. Petersburg, the European University began operating as an elite graduate school in the social sciences and humanities in 1996. From its inception, the mission of EUSP has been to meet the needs of Russian social development by training a new generation of teachers and scholars in the best Russian and Western traditions.
The European University is one of only a few non-state universities fully qualified by the Ministry of Education to award advanced graduate degrees.
